WHOVIANS CREATE IS CLOSED

Hello everyone. Some members already knew this was coming but it's time for the official announcement.

The forum's activity is at an all time low and we are in a rapid decline of posts and new member registrations. This has caused the forum to quiet down (As it has been all year, on and off) and we are well past our prime. Not only is the forum quiet but even our friendships as a community are suffering. I've noticed that we all went from frequently talking to each other on the forum and/or Skype to very rarely conversing at all.

March 2012 was our last big 'high' in terms of new posts, with 17% of the overall post count being contributed in March. However, last month saw one of our worst months on record with a mere 4% of the overall post count being contributed in November 2012, and the pattern is consistent:



Yes, there has been a few posts but as you can see we are well past our prime and there is clearly no hope of beating our record of 17% by remaining in this current format.

To add more pertrol to the flame, Doctor Who discussion is dead. As a consequence of the forum being a highly NuWho-centric DW forum, whenever the NuWho series isn't airing we seem to go dreadfully quiet as a forum. Due to the lack of classic fans within our membership there is never any other Doctor Who discussion besides NuWho discussion, and that is simply a severe problem as a Doctor Who forum.

We cannot survive another year. The damage seems terminal. There's no way of attracting classic fans here to maintain Doctor Who discussion when the NuWho series isn't airing without already having classic discussion going - there's no way around this problem; the majority of people here don't want to talk about classics, we can't force people to like nor talk about classics, and we can't attract a wider range of Whovians without already having a wide range of Whovians as an incentive for them to join.

It seems causeless for us to continue with any efforts to give this place another kick start, and thus it would be pointless to continue with this forum. Every time we shake things up it lasts a few weeks and then goes back to being gloomily silent again. There is no way out from here, which is why Os76 has decided he would like to close the forum. It would honestly be a waste of time to continue maintaining this forum only for it to completely come to a halt in a couple of months time. We're a floating shipwreck waiting to sink.

As of January 1st 2013, no more maintenance will be carried out on the forum. And as of today no more member registrations will be accepted, no more administration will be carried out. Although people will still be able to use the forum, it's going to be just left as it is (to fade away). Moderators will no longer be available to help members on the forum as of January 1st.

Having said all of this, because we have put so much effort into this place we won't just be shutting the forum down and forsaking it. We would like to preserve the community because of how nice it truly is. Therefore we'd like to invite you to join a new forum project me and Os76 are working on; we do not wish to lose you all as friends and as a community, but this place is truly in its last days. This new forum project will not be a replacement of Whovians Create, thus it will not be anything like Whovians Create - it will be a more generic 'nerdy' forum (it will still include Doctor Who, so you are free to join and still talk about the same things you do here). This new forum that me and Os76 are working on is still a work-in-progress so we'll update you with further information soon, including the link to the forum so you can sign up!

Don't leave this place too soon though! We still have two weeks left until the forum closes and we still have Christmas to go yet! Make sure you join us this Christmas as we have a few events lined up to celebrate the season and the end of the forum. Please do watch this space for further information and make sure you join us!

I hope you fully understand this decision that has been made, and if you feel uneasy or even annoyed about it then I am truly sorry but the decision is conclusive and has been made official by the man himself. This place has had an awesome run but we can't see any way up from here. We hope that you'll join us in our new endeavor with our new forum project.
